• What
This medicine is a corticosteroid used to prevent or reduce the frequency and seriousness of asthma attacks. This medicine will NOT help to stop an asthma attack once one starts.
• How
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. AN ADDITIONAL PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET is available with this medicine. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. YOU MUST PRIME THE INHALER BEFORE YOU USE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. You must also prime the inhaler if it is not used for more than 10 days. To prime the inhaler, remove the plastic cap and spray the inhaler 3 times into the air away from your face and eyes. BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE, be sure that the canister is properly placed in the inhaler unit. Breathe out slowly and completely. REMOVE THE MOUTHPIECE COVER and place the mouthpiece between your lips. Try to rest your tongue flat, unless your doctor has told you otherwise. Begin to breathe in slowly and deeply through your mouth. As you breathe in, press the canister and mouthpiece together at exactly the same time. This will release a dose of the medicine. Continue breathing in slowly and deeply, move the inhaler away from your mouth, and hold your breath for about 10 seconds or as long as comfortable, then breathe out slowly through pursed lips or your nose. Do NOT breathe out into the inhaler. If more than 1 inhalation is to be used, wait a few minutes and repeat the above steps. Keep the spray away from your eyes. REPLACE THE MOUTHPIECE COVER AFTER USE. RINSE YOUR MOUTH with water after each use to help prevent mouth or throat infections. DO NOT SWALLOW THE RINSE WATER. Spit it out. THIS MEDICINE HAS A DOSE COUNTER on the top of the canister to help you keep track of how many doses are left in your inhaler. The dose counter will count down every time a dose is loaded, but will only move after intervals of about 10 doses. Throw this medicine away when the dose indicator displays "0". It may no longer give the correct amount of medicine with each dose. THE DOSE COUNTER MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY if the inhaler is dropped. Keep track of the number of sprays you use and subtract this number from the number of doses in the container. This will help you know when the container is becoming empty. KEEP THE INHALER CLEAN AND DRY AT ALL TIMES. Do not wash the inhaler or put any part of it in water. Clean the mouthpiece weekly with a clean, dry tissue or cloth. USE THIS MEDICINE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE to get the most benefit from it. CONTINUE TO USE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well and do not have asthma symptoms. Do not miss any doses. DO NOT USE OR STORE near heat or open flame. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature as directed in the extra patient leaflet, away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not puncture, break, or burn the canister even if it appears to be empty. Protect from extreme heat (temperatures above 120 degrees F / 49 degrees C). Do not store in the bathroom. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use 2 doses at once.
• Precautions
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking azole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole), delavirdine, or protease inhibitors (eg, boceprevir, ritonavir). TELL YOUR DOCTOR if you are taking or have previously taken another corticosteroid (eg, budesonide) by mouth or by inhalation. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including a history of other lung or breathing problems, glaucoma or increased pressure in the eye, cataracts, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. TELL YOUR DOCTOR if you have a personal or family history or osteoporosis (weak bones) or you have risk factors for developing osteoporosis, including prolonged immobilization or long-term use of seizures medicines (eg, carbamazepine) or corticosteroids (eg, prednisone). TELL YOUR DOCTOR if you have a herpes infection of the eye; a bacterial, fungal, or parasitic infection; a viral infection (eg, chickenpox, measles, shingles); have tuberculosis or have had a positive tuberculosis skin test; or have recently had a vaccination. TELL YOUR DOCTOR if you have ever had to stop taking another medicine for asthma because you were allergic to it or had other problems with it. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you are having an asthma attack. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.
• Side Effects
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include dizziness, headache, nasal congestion, or nose or throat irritation. If they continue or become bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience back or joint pain; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; irregular heartbeat; mental or mood changes (eg, depression); new or worsening asthma symptoms (eg, chest tightness, increased wheezing or coughing); severe or persistent diarrhea, headache, or stomach pain; shortness of breath after using this medicine; vision changes (eg, cloudy vision, decreased vision); or white patches in the mouth or throat. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, eyelids, lips, throat, or tongue; or unusual hoarseness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. • Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST about all of your asthma medicines and how to use them. Your doctor may make changes to your asthma-control medicines once your asthma is well controlled. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any asthma medicine unless your doctor tells you to. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
