Corlanor Information:
What is Corlanor?
Corlanor is the drug ivabradine, an HCN (hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated) channel blocker, prescribed to decrease the risk of a worsening of conditions in order to prevent hospitalization in those with heart failure. Corlanor increases the volume of blood pumped by the heart through the body by changing the heart’s electrical activity to slow the heart rate.
How do I take Corlanor?
Corlanor is administered as a tablet that is taken orally, twice a day, with food. However, each individual’s condition is different and your doctor may make adjustments to the dosing regimen; follow the prescription instructions exactly. If needed, and permitted by a doctor, a tablet may be cut in half. This medication controls the symptoms of heart failure but does not cure them; continue taking this medication even if you feel well.
Before taking Corlanor, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to ivabradine or any of the ingredients in the Corlanor drug;
- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child;
- You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements (including St. John’s wort);
- You are taking amiodarone, antibiotics, antifungals, beta blockers, digoxin, HIV protease inhibitors, diltiazem, phenobarbital, verapamil, rifampin, or phenytoin;
- You have, or have had, heart or heart-related problems, including arrhythmia, bradycardia, hypotension, hypertension, symptoms of heart failure, or liver disease; or
- You have a pacemaker.

Some people have reported severe side effects after taking Corlanor. If you experience any of the following, contact your doctor for Corlanor patient assistance: signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, peeling or blistered skin; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue; hoarseness; difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or swallowing), tachycardia, arrhythmia, chest pain, pressure in the chest, slowed or stopped heartbeat, dizziness, excessive tiredness, or a lack of energy.
What if I forget to take a dose of Corlanor?
If you forget to take your scheduled dose Corlanor, do so as soon as your remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase dosage or change the regimen to make up for the dose not taken.
How do I store Corlanor?
Keep Corlanor tightly sealed in its original container, out of the reach of the reach of children and away from extremes of temperature and humidity. Dispose of any unused medication according to the instructions of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Corlanor?
If an overdose of Corlanor is suspected, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911. Signs of an overdose include dizziness, extreme tiredness, malaise, or a slowed heart rate.
