Fluoroplex Information:

What is Fluoroplex?

Fluoroplex is an anti-metabolite drug. It comes as a topical cream and is used to stop the growth of abnormal skin cells. It is used to treat pre-cancerous or cancerous skin conditions caused by sun exposure.

How do I use Fluoroplex?

Before using Fluoroplex, wash, rinse, and dry the area to which you will be applying the cream. Wash your hands as well. Use your fingers or a non-metal applicator to gently rub a thin layer of the cream onto the affected skin. Wash your hands again when you’re done. Don’t cover the treated area with clothing or bandages unless your doctor has given you permission to do so.

Before using Fluoroplex, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to this drug or have any other allergies
  • You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications or supplements
  • You have a deficiency of the DPD enzyme
  • You have any skin infections or open sores
  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of using Fluoroplex?

The most common side effect of Fluoroplex is skin irritation at the site of application, including redness, dryness, burning, soreness, discoloration, or mild pain. The Fluoroplex drug may also sometimes cause difficulty sleeping, temporary hair loss, irritability, or an unusual taste in the mouth. If you have any side effects that last a long time or are bothersome, let your doctor know. If you have any serious side effects, contact your doctor immediately. These rare side effects may include severe stomach pain, easy bruising or bleeding, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, or signs of an infection.

What if I forget to use a dose of Fluoroplex?

Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for another dose, skip the missed one and continue with your normal dosage schedule. Do not apply more of the Fluoroplex cream than you normally would in an effort to catch up.

How do I store Fluoroplex?

Keep Fluoroplex at room temperature (68-77 degrees Fahrenheit) and out of reach of children and pets. Do not store this medication in the bathroom, because bright light and humidity can negatively affect it. If you no longer need Fluoroplex or it has expired, ask your pharmacist how to safely dispose of it.

What happens if I overdose on Fluoroplex?

It is unlikely that you will experience overdose symptoms if you apply too much of the Fluoroplex cream to your skin, although you may have some skin irritation. This medication can be dangerous if swallowed, however. If you are anyone in your household swallows some of this prescription drug, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.

Warnings

The Fluoroplex drug can increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight, so make sure you wear protective clothing or use sunscreen when you are outside. Keep Fluoroplex away from your nose, mouth, and eyes, and do not apply it to any broken, infected, or irritated skin. Avoid using other skin products, including sunscreen, on the treated areas for at least two hours after an application. Do not use any other prescription skin medications unless your doctor has told you to do so.

Brand Name

Fluoroplex is a brand name drug. The FDA has not yet approved a generic version, which means there is no cheaper alternative to Fluoroplex. If you need this medicine but are concerned about the cost, remember to get a free Fluoroplex coupon or savings card from our site.
