Serevent Diskus Information:
What is Serevent Diskus?
Serevent Diskus contains a long-acting beta agonist (LABA) medication called salmeterol. This medication comes with an inhaler and works by relaxing bronchial smooth muscle tissue. Serevent Diskus should only be prescribed for asthma if other medications have failed to control it. This medication is not for long-term use, and the patient should be reevaluated periodically to see if he or she can stop using the medication.
How do I use the Serevent Diskus?
To use the Diskus® inhaler, hold the inhaler in one hand and place the thumb or your other hand on the thumb grip, push the thumb grip away from you as far as it will go to expose the mouthpiece. You will hear it snap into place. Hold the inhaler level and point the mouthpiece toward you. Push the lever away from you until it clicks. This means a dose is ready. Breathe out completely and then seal your lips around the mouthpiece. Breathe in as deeply as you can to inhale the dose and then hold your breath for 10 seconds. Slowly breathe out. When you are finished, push the thumb grip back into place to close the Diskus® inhaler.
Before taking Serevent, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Serevent Diskus.

What if I forget to take a dose from the Serevent Diskus?
If you miss a dose from your Serevent Diskus, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s closer to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular regimen. Do not take consecutive doses of Serevent to compensate for a missed one.
