X-Viate Information:
X-Viate is a keratolytic emollient that softens skin and nail tissue. This topical drug increases moisture in the skin and also promotes the shedding of dead skin cells. Your doctor may prescribe X-Viate for skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, or for corns, calluses, or ingrown nails.
Apply a thin layer of the X-Viate cream to the affected areas and gently rub it in until it is fully absorbed. Use this medication only as often as your doctor has prescribed (usually one to three times per day). Keep it away from your eyes, nose, and mouth, and don’t apply it to any area with irritated or broken skin. Wash your hands thoroughly after each application.
Before using X-Viate, tell your doctor if:
· You are allergic to urea or lactic acid
· You have any other allergies
· You are using any prescription or over-the-counter drugs, skin products, vitamins, or supplements
· You have any skin cuts, sores, or infections
· You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning a pregnancy`
As with most other topical medications, there is a possibility of itching, burning, stinging, redness, or irritation at the X-Viate application site. Call your doctor right away if you experience a severe skin reaction, including blistering or peeling, or signs of a skin infection. Get emergency medical help immediately if you experience any signs of an allergic reaction to this drug.
Apply the missed dose once you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next application. Do not apply more of the cream than you normally would for one dose in an effort to catch up.
Keep your tube of X-Viate cream tightly sealed when you’re not using it, and place it somewhere that children and pets in your home can’t reach. Store it at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Bathroom storage isn’t recommended. If your X-Viate medicine has expired or is no longer necessary, ask your pharmacist about the best way to dispose of it.
You are unlikely to overdose on X-Viate when applying it to your skin, but this medication may be harmful or swallowed. If you or someone in your home has ingested some of this topical cream, call your local Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 to find out what to do.
The X-Viate drug may make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Always wear sunscreen or protective clothing if you will be outside for an extended period of time, and avoid tanning beds and sunlamps.
