Enteragam Information:

What is Enteragam?

Enteragam is a medical food product consisting of serum-derived immunoglobulin/protein isolate, or SBI. It is used, under the supervision of a doctor, to help treat a number of bowel disorders and conditions including symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), as well as difficulties with digesting, absorbing, ingesting, or metabolizing certain nutrients. The Enteragam drug is for use only under the direct care and supervision of a doctor.

How do I take Enteragam?

Enteragam comes in a packet as a powder that is dissolved in liquid or sprinkled on yogurt or other approved food item. It is initially taken once a day, with or without meals, and may be increased to up to four packets a day; follow the dosing instructions of your physician. Take each dose as soon as it is mixed and do not store the mixed product. If you have questions or need Enteragam prescription assistance, speak with your doctor or pharmacist.

Before taking Enteragam, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to beef or beef products or any of the ingredients in the Enteragam drug
  • You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing
  • You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements
  • You are taking medications to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome or any gastrointestinal disorder

What are the possible side effects of taking Enteragam?

Some patients have reported side effects after taking Enteragam. Mild symptoms include constipation, mild nausea, increased urination, stomach cramps, or headache. If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider for Enteragam prescription assistance.

Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or hives, rash, or itching.

What if I forget to take a dose of Enteragam?

If you forget to take your scheduled dose of Enteragam, do so as soon as you remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and continue with the regular dosing regimen. Do not increase the amount taken to compensate for a missed dose.

How do I store Enteragam?

Keep Enteragam tightly sealed in its packet(s), out of the reach of children and away from the extremes of temperature and humidity. Drink this medication as soon as it is mixed with water. Dispose of any unused or expired packets according to the recommendations of your pharmacist.

What happens if I overdose on Enteragam?
