Ertaczo Information:
What is Ertaczo?
Ertaczo is an azole antifungal medication used to treat athlete’s foot (a form of ringworm). It works by stopping the growth of the fungus causing the condition. It is also sometimes used for other yeast or fungal skin infections, such as jock itch and ringworm of the scalp.
How do I take Ertaczo?
Ertaczo is typically applied to the infected area twice a day (unless your doctor has given you different instructions). Apply just enough of the cream to cover the affected skin, and wash your hands thoroughly when you’re done. To help you remember to apply this medication, try to use it at the same times every day.
Before taking Ertaczo, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to this or any other azole antifungals, including ketoconazole, micronazole, or clotrimazole
- You have any other known allergies
- You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications or supplements
- You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant
What are the possible side effects of taking Ertaczo?
Most people who use Ertaczo do not experience serious side effects. However, some people have reported tenderness, irritation, swelling, a burning sensation, discoloration, or dry skin when using this medication. If you have any of these side effects, they may go away as your body adjusts to the drug. If they do not go away, or if any side effects become bothersome, tell your doctor. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any rare but serious side effects, such as open sores, blistering, oozing, or signs of a serious allergic reaction.
What if I forget to take a dose of Ertaczo?
If you forget to apply Ertaczo at your usual time, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for another application. In this case, skip the missed dose and get back to your normal application schedule. Do not apply more of the Ertaczo cream than you normally would, as this can increase your risk of side effects.
How do I store Ertaczo?
Keep the cap on the Ertaczo cream completely sealed when you’re not using this medication. Store Ertaczo at room temperature, away from bright light and humidity (the bathroom is not a good storage space). As with all prescription medications, keep the tube of cream out of reach of any pets or children in your household. If your Ertaczo cream has expired or you no longer need it, talk to your pharmacist about how to safely dispose of it.
What happens if I overdose on Ertaczo?
It is unlikely that you will overdose on this topical medication if you are applying it as directed. However, if you or someone in your household swallows any of the Ertaczo cream, it can be very dangerous. Contact Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) right away if you or anyone in your household has swallowed some of this medication.
Warnings
Ertaczo should only be applied to the affected skin. Avoid your eyes, nose, and mouth. Use this medication for as long as your doctor has prescribed it, as stopping early may result in continued fungal growth. If your condition worsens or does not improve after two weeks, let your doctor know.
Brand Name
Ertaczo is a brand name drug, and there is currently no cheaper generic equivalent. Because Ertaczo is a brand name product, it is not covered by all insurance providers. If your insurance plan doesn’t cover this medication and you are worried about affording the full Ertaczo price, remember to print or download your free, reusable Ertaczo coupon from HelpRx.
