What is Cryselle?
Cryselle is an oral contraceptive for women that prevents pregnancy when take as directed. The main active ingredients in Cryselle, ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel, prevent ovulation and change the uterine lining to prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg.
How do I take Cryselle?
Take Cryselle on the first day of your period or on the first Sunday after you period starts. You must take each pill in the pack on the day indicated to prevent pregnancy. It is important to use other contraceptives such as condoms during the first week on Cryselle to reduce the risk of an unwanted pregnancy.
Before taking Cryselle, tell your doctor if:
- You have a history of heart attack or stroke
- You have heart disease
- You have uncontrolled high blood pressure
- You have a history of cervical cancer
- You are a smoker
- You have a history of depression
- You have diabetes or gall bladder disease
- You have a history of seizures or epilepsy
- You have migraine headaches
- You have kidney disease
- You are taking any other prescription or over-the-counter drugs or supplements
What are the possible side effects of taking Cryselle?
The most common side effects reported by women taking Cryselle include: acne, breast tenderness, changes in appetite, changes in weight, dizziness, and headaches. Contact your doctor if you experience hair loss or changes in mood while taking Cryselle.
What if I forget to take a dose of Cryselle?
If you miss an active Cryselle pill, take it the next day along with your usual dose, and follow your regular dosing schedule after that. If you miss more than two Cryselle pills, take two active pills for two days. You may become pregnant if you miss doses of Cryselle.
How do I store Cryselle?
Store Cryselle in a room with a temperature between 67 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Remember to always store Cryselle in a locked cabinet away from children.
What happens if I overdose on Cryselle?
If you overdose on Cryselle, you may experience stomach pain. Contact your doctor right away if you experience any side effects after an overdose. If you are having difficulty breathing or are feeling chest pain, call 911 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
