What is Evista?

Evista prevents and treats osteoporosis in postmenopausal women by mimicking the effects of estrogen in the body to increase bone density. This drug decreases the risk of developing invasive breast cancer in patients by blocking the effects of estrogen on breast tissue. In which it may stop the development of tumors that need estrogen to grow.

Evista cannot be used to treat invasive breast cancer, nor can it be used to prevent invasive breast cancer recurrence in women who have already had this condition.

Evista is classified as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM).

How do I use Evista?

Evista comes as a 60 mg tablet, and is taken orally. It is usually recommended that one 60 mg tablet of Evista be taken daily, with or without food. Before using Evista, tell your doctor if:

• You are allergic to Evista or any other medications

What if I forget to use a dose of Evista?

Take your missed dose of Evista as soon as your remember to take it unless it is almost time for the next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

How do I store Evista?

Store this medication tightly closed when not in use. Store it at room temperature and keep away from excess moisture and heat. Keep this medication out of reach of children and away from pets. Properly dispose of any expired or unnecessary medication.
