Lamotrigine ER Information:
What is lamotrigine ER?
Lamotrigine ER is a member of the sodium channel blocking class of antiepileptic drugs. It is derived from triazine and inhibits voltage-sensitive sodium channels, which stabilizes neuronal membranes. It helps decrease glutamate release that can lead to epileptic seizure. Lamotrigine ER is also used to delay severe episodes of mood swings in adults with bipolar disorder.
How do I take lamotrigine ER?
Take lamotrigine ER orally with or without food. If your stomach becomes upset, take with food to reduce irritation. Be sure to follow all directions given to you by your doctor when taking this medication. Continue to take lamotrigine ER as prescribed even if you feel well.
