Nevanac Information:
What is Nevanac?
Nevanac is in the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) class. While NSAIDs are used to treat pain caused by a wide range of conditions, Nevanac is specifically used to treat eye pain and swelling from surgery. It comes as a liquid solution and is administered through an eye dropper.
How do I take Nevanac?
Follow your doctor’s application and dosage instructions carefully when using Nevanac. Always wash your hands and shake the medication bottle before each use. Tilt your head back, look up, pull your lower eyelid back, and gently squeeze one drop into your eye. Close your eyes for one to two minutes while the medication is absorbed. Rinse the dropper when you are done, and don’t let the dropper tip touch any surface.
Before taking Nevanac, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Nevanac or any other medications
- You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications or supplements
- You have asthma that typically gets worse after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
- You have previously had eye surgery or have any other eye problems
- You have diabetes
- You have rheumatoid arthritis
- You have asthma
- You have nasal polyps
- You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant
What are the possible side effects of taking Nevanac?
Some people experience mild stinging or burning immediately after applying Nevanac eye drops. This should stop within one to two minutes, but if it does not, contact your doctor right away. Call your doctor immediately if you experience any rare but serious side effects, such as watering or extremely sensitive eyes, eye swelling, eye discharge, or vision changes.
What if I forget to take a dose of Nevanac?
If you forget a dose of Nevanac, apply the eye drops as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and continue with your normal dosing schedule. Don’t double the dose to catch up.
How do I store Nevanac?
Store Nevanac between 36 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit, away from light and moisture. As with all prescription drugs, keep this medication out of reach of pets and children. If you need to discard unused or expired medication, talk to your pharmacist about how to safely do so.
What happens if I overdose on Nevanac?
Because Nevanac is administered through an eye dropper, it is unlikely that you will overdose when using the drug as intended. However, if you or anyone in your household swallows any of the solution, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.
Warnings
Nevanac can cause temporary vision changes, so don’t drive, operate heavy machinery, or engage in any other activities that require clear vision until you know how the medication affects you.
