Procardia Information:

This medicine is a calcium channel blocker used to control angina (chest pain). It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take this medicine by mouth with or without food. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. DO NOT EAT GRAPEFRUIT OR DRINK GRAPEFRUIT JUICE while you are using this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, between 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C), away from heat, moisture, and light. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. DO NOT SUDDENLY STOP TAKING THIS MEDICINE without checking with your doctor. If you need to stop this medicine, your doctor may gradually lower your dose. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), carbamazepine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), rifamycins (eg, rifampin, rifabutin), or St. John's Wort. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking alpha blockers (eg, doxazosin), beta-blockers (eg, propranolol), diuretics (eg, hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide), methyldopa, phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (eg, sildenafil, tadalafil), acarbose, azole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole, fluconazole), calcium channel blockers (eg, diltiazem, verapamil), cimetidine, fluoxetine, HIV protease inhibitors (eg, ritonavir, saquinavir), imatinib, macrolide antibiotics (eg, erythromycin, clarithromycin), nefazodone, streptogramins (eg, quinupristin/dalfopristin), valproic acid, cyclosporine, digoxin, ketanserin, lithium, tacrolimus, quinidine, theophylline, or vinca alkaloids (eg, vincristine). Tell your doctor if you take medicines to lower your blood pressure. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including a history of angina, heart blood vessel problems, or other heart problems (eg, aortic stenosis; congestive heart failure; heart attack; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat); high or low blood pressure; liver problems (eg, cirrhosis); kidney problems; swelling of the arms or legs; fluid in your lungs; allergies; pregnancy; or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have recently had or will be having surgery, or if you have recently stopped taking a beta-blocker (eg, propranolol). USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have very low blood pressure or shock due to heart problems, or if you have had a heart attack within the past 2 weeks. Use of this medicine in CHILDREN is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include dizziness, light-headedness, headache, weakness, constipation, cough, flushing, giddiness, heat sensation, muscle cramps, nausea, nervousness, or heartburn. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience fainting; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; mental or mood changes; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe or persistent dizziness or light-headedness; slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat; shortness of breath; sudden, unusual weight gain; swelling of the arms or legs; symptoms of heart attack (eg, chest, jaw, or left arm pain; numbness of an arm or leg; sudden, severe headache or vomiting); tender, bleeding, or swollen gums; tremors; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual tiredness or weakness; vision problems; wheezing; worsening chest pain (eg, longer, more often, more severe); or yellowing of the skin or eyes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; or unusual hoarseness. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include fainting; loss of consciousness; rapid, slow, or irregular heartbeat; or severe dizziness or light-headedness.
DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. IF YOU WILL BE USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dispose of unused medicine.
