Armodafinil Information:

Armodafinil is a drug that promotes wakefulness through a process that is not fully understood. It has shown some wake-promoting actions similar to sympathomimetic agents such as amphetamine and methylphenidate, but has a distinctly different chemical structure. It also acts on dopamine receptors, inhibiting reuptake of dopamine and leaving more available for the brain, which can help promote wakefulness.

Armodafinil is administered in tablets that can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will prescribe a certain time of day and dosing schedule to take this medication. Take it at the same time every day, and do not deviate either the day or time of day you take it without first consulting your physician.

Before taking armodafinil, tell your doctor if:

·       You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing

·       You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medicine

·       You are taking any herbal preparations or dietary supplement

·       You have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

·       You or a family member has a history of mental problems, mood problems, or substance abuse

·       You have cardiovascular problems

·       You have liver or kidney problems

·       You are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI)

Taking armodafinil may come with some minor side effects including dizziness, headache, nausea, or trouble sleeping. Suspend use and get help from a doctor if you start to feel chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever, chills, sore throat, behavioral or mood changes, muscle or joint pain, shortness of breath, suicidal thoughts or actions, swelling of the legs, symptoms of liver problems, unusual bruising or bleeding, vomiting, or weakness.

If you fail to take a dose of armodafinil, take it as soon as you remember to. If you do not remember until late in the afternoon or evening, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Never take two doses at once to make up for a missed dose.

Store armodafinil in a place that stays room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 and 25 degrees Celsius). Put it in a place that is away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep armodafinil out of the reach of children as well as pets.

An overdose of armodafinil may cause some of the severe side effects listed under Side Effects. If you or someone in your home overdoses, call 1-800-222-1222 for poison control or make your way to an emergency room immediately.

Do not drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness while you are using armodafinil. The effects of such medicines may increase if you do. Do not make any changes to your dosage without first consulting your doctor, as risk of overdose or adverse reaction is high. Armodafinil cannot cure sleep disorders and it may not be able to prevent all of your sleepiness.

Armodafinil is the generic form of the brand-name medication Nuvigil. The generic form is the most affordable treatment option. If your doctor has prescribed armodafinil to you to help reduce the instance of sleep disorders, grab a HelpRx armodafinil coupon to cut the cost of your next prescription fill.
