Zenzedi Information:

Zenzedi is a type of drug known as a central nervous system stimulant. It alters the levels of certain chemicals in the brain that affect impulse control and hyperactivity. This medication is primarily prescribed to treat ADHD, but it is also sometimes prescribed to promote daytime wakefulness in people with narcolepsy.

Take Zenzedi exactly as your doctor has instructed and never share tablets with another person; this medication can be addictive when it is abused or overused. Your doctor will likely instruct you to take two to three doses per day but may adjust your dosing schedule based on your response to treatment.

Before taking Zenzedi, tell your doctor if:

·       You are allergic to any stimulant medication

·       You are using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs

·       You have used an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days

·       You have uncontrolled high blood pressure or blood circulation problems

·       You have a personal or family history of heart problems

·       You have an overactive thyroid gland

·       You have glaucoma

·       You have a history of severe anxiety

·       You have a personal or family history of substance abuse or mental illness

·       You have a personal or family history of motor tics or seizures

·       You have had an abnormal brain wave test

·       You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

The most commonly reported side effects of Zenzedi are insomnia, decreased libido, appetite loss, weight loss, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, and upset stomach. Tell your doctor if you experience any common side effects that last a long time or get worse, or if you have any of the following: fast heart rate, uncontrollable muscle twitching, vision changes, chest pain, difficulty breathing, numbness or discoloration in your fingers or toes, seizures, hallucinations, or an erection that lasts more than four hours.

Take the missed dose once you remember, unless it is almost time for another dose or close to your bedtime. Taking a stimulant too late in the day may make it difficult to sleep.

Store Zenzedi in a tightly-sealed container at room temperature. Because this medication has the potential for abuse, you should keep it somewhere that only you can access. If you no longer need Zenzedi, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of remaining pills safely.

Overdosing on Zenzedi may cause severe side effects such as agitation, tremors, confusion, hallucinations, muscle pain or weakness, and rapid breathing. When left untreated, an overdose of this medication can be fatal. If you or someone in your home has overdosed on this medication, get emergency medical attention right away.

Warnings

Don’t drive, operate heavy machinery, or perform other tasks that require clear focus until you know how Zenzedi affects you. Don’t drink fruit juice or take vitamin C supplements at the same time you take Zenzedi, as the medicine may not be fully absorbed into your bloodstream. Talk to your doctor about all medications that may interact with Zenzedi.

Brand Names

The FDA has approved dextroamphetamine as the generic equivalent to Zenzedi. Generic dextroamphetamine is often substantially less expensive than Zenzedi, so ask your doctor if it’s possible to switch. If you can’t switch, remember to get a free Zenzedi coupon from HelpRx so that you can reduce what you pay at your pharmacy.
