What is Lorzone?
Lorzone is the brand name of the muscle relaxer chlorzoxazone and is prescribed to relieve the pain and stiffness associated with sprains and muscle strains; it works by blocking nerve impulses to the brain. This medication may also be prescribed to treat muscle spasms or other conditions.
How do I take Lorzone?
Lorzone pills are taken orally, with water, three or four times a day, depending on the severity of the condition being treated. They may be taken with or without food.
Before taking Lorzone, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to chlorzoxazone or any of the ingredients in Lorzone
- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing
- You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements
- You are taking tranquillizer, sedatives, or sleeping pills
- You have liver disease
- You are 65 or older
What are the possible side effects of taking Lorzone?
Some patients have reported side effects after taking the Lorzone drug. Less severe symptoms include a change in urine color to purple or red, nausea, weakness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, or dizziness. If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your doctor.
Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue; hives, rash, itching, or fever; difficulty breathing or swallowing), breathing problems, or symptoms of jaundice.
What if I forget to take a dose of Lorzone?
If you miss a scheduled dose of Lorzone, take it as soon as you remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the number of Lorzone pills taken or change the dosing regimen to make up for a missed dose.
How do I store Lorzone?
Keep Lorzone tightly sealed in its original container, out of the reach of children, and away from the extremes of temperature and humidity. Dispose of any unused or expired doses according to the instructions of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Lorzone?
If Lorzone drug overdose is suspected, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.
