What is Pred-Mild?
Pred-Mild is corticoid eye medication that reduces swelling, itching, redness associated with bacterial, viral and fungal infections as well as injuries and allergies of the eyes. The formulation of Pre-Mild has an active ingredient called prednisolone acetate that works by preventing and reducing the body’s inflammatory response to infections, allergens and injuries to the eye.
How do I take Pred-Mild?
Before taking Pred-Mild, wash your hands to avoid contaminating the eye with other bacteria. Shake the Pred-Mild eyedropper well before using, and apply one drop into the sac of the lower eyelid four to five times daily. Your doctor may recommend more applications during the day depending on the severity of your eye infection. It is important to continue the therapy as recommended and to not discontinue Pred-Mild prematurely, even if the swelling and redness is gone.
Before taking Pred-Mild, tell your doctor if:
- You have an active infection
- You wear contact lenses
- You are allergic to prednisolone or any other drugs
- You have glaucoma or diabetes
- You are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
- You are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
What are the possible side effects of taking Pred-Mild?
Some of the most common side effect that you may experience while taking Pred-Mild include burning, redness, or stinging of the eye and temporary watery eyes or blurry vision. These effects should fade after the drops are administered. Contact your doctor right away if you experience extreme eye pain, infection or prolonged blurry vision.
What if I forget to take a dose of Pred-Mild?
If you miss a dose, simply take the next scheduled dose. It is important to not take more Pred-Mild than recommended by your doctor.
How do I store Pred-Mild?
Keep the bottle of Pred-Mild solution in a room with a temperature between 59°-86°F. Protect this medication from extreme heat, freezing, and keep out of reach from children
What happens if I overdosed on Pred-Mild?
If you overdose of Pred-Mild, you may experience eye discomfort and temporary loss of vision. Contact immediate medical assistance by calling 911 or call Poison Control at 1(800) 222-1222 if needed.
Warnings
The prolonged use of medications that contain corticosteroids like Pred-Mild can cause glaucoma that damages the optic nerve and vision impairment. Using corticosteroids for long periods may also suppress the immune system’s ability to fight other secondary eye infections. Only take Pred-Mild as directed to avoid these serious health complications.
