What is Combivent?

Combivent is a combination of ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate. It works by relaxing the smooth muscle tissue that surrounds air passageways to ease constriction. What if I forget to take a dose of Combivent?

If you miss a dose of this medication, take it as soon as you remember. However, if the time for the next scheduled dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the normal schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Warnings

If Combivent is not used for more than three days, it will need to be actuated once. If it is not used for more than 21 days, then the unit needs to be actuated in the same manner as for first time use.

Albuterol, an active ingredient in Combivent, may cause life threatening paradoxical bronchospasms, marked by wheezing and difficulty breathing immediately after a dose is administered. If this happens, discontinue its use and contact your physician.
