Lipitor Information:
What is Lipitor?
Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium) is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (i.e., statin). It lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) by stopping the production of mevalonate, which is the rate-determining-step for cholesterol biosynthesis, and increases HDL (good cholesterol). It's indicated for treating risk of stroke or heart attack and lower the risk of developing heart disease as well as the potential need for heart surgery. Lipitor is intended to be used by adults with coronary heart disease or other risk factors, or with type 2 diabetes.
How do I take Lipitor?
Before buying Lipitor, print our free Lipitor coupon or sign up for a discount card to reduce the cost when you fill your prescription. Take 1 tablet by mouth daily, and take your medication at the same time every day. It can be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. The dosage will be determined by your doctor according to your medical history and health. For full and complete Lipitor patient assistance and instructions, always refer to your doctor or pharmacist. This article is not intended to be a comprehensive medication guide.
