What is Ritalin La?
Ritalin La is a brand name of the drug methylphenidate and is prescribed, along with other forms of treatment, to help control the symptoms Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It is a stimulant of the central nervous system, affecting certain chemicals of the brain control impulsivity and hyperactivity. The long-acting formula releases a dose of the medication immediately, while the remainder is gradually released over the next twenty-four hours. This drug may also be prescribed to help treat narcolepsy.
How do I take Ritalin La?
Ritalin La is a long-acting ADHD medication, dispensed in capsule form and taken in the morning; it can be taken with or without food. Do not chew, crush, break, or split the capsule. Some patients have reported side effects after taking Ritalin La. Less severe side effects include changes in sexual desire, diarrhea, sleep difficulties, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, heartburn, appetite changes, muscle tightness, nausea, restlessness, stomach pain, tremors, vomiting, or numb, burning, or tingling hands or feet. If any of these conditions persist worsen contact your healthcare provider.
Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include arrhythmia, chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, changes in speech patterns, fainting, weakness or numbing of the limbs, seizures, vision problems, agitation, paranoia, aural or visual hallucinations; verbal or motor tics; depression, euphoria, or other mood changes; priapism; signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, fever, hoarseness, swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue, or difficulty breathing or swallowing); skin on fingers and toes changing color from pale to blue, to red, or wounds on these digits; or numb or painful extremities).
What if I forget to take a dose of Ritalin La?
