What is Vayarin?
Vayarin is a medical food in the form of a capsule that is used to treat ADHD. Medical foods are specially formulated to manage a disease with specific vitamins or nutrients under the guidance of a healthcare provider. This is usually due to a patient’s inability to metabolize, absorb, or utilize certain nutrients. Since the 1980s, research has indicated that ADHD has correlated with the inability to metabolize specific types of fatty acids and phospholipids. A specific phospholipid, abbreviated PS, is known to play an important role in building brain cells, especially nerve cells. Low levels of Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are present in ADHD patients and also patients who suffer from depression, Alzheimer’s, autism, and schizophrenia. Vayarin works by increasing levels of PS, EPA, and DHA to enhance the function of nerve cells and neurotransmission.
How do I take Vayarin?

There are virtually no side effects of taking Vayarin, as it contains substances that the body needs for nutrition. Very few patients (6) in the entire study group experienced some abdominal pain. If you happen to experience a strange or severe side effect, contact your doctor at once. The only known serious side effect is an allergic reaction to an ingredient in the medication.
What if I forget to take a dose of Vayarin?
If you miss a dose of Vayarin, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for the next dose, don’t take the missed dose and continue on your regular medication schedule.
How do I store Vayarin?
Store Vayarin at a room temperature up to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Protect this medication from moisture and keep it out of the light.
What happens if I overdose on Vayarin?
There are no reports of overdose on Vayarin. High levels of fatty acids could potentially raise cholesterol levels and inhibit blood clotting.
